Mitzi Cupp-Weeks

Mitzi and Tyson (10 years old)

1998 ASCA Nationals

Siena Kennels is owned by Mitzi Cupp-Weeks and Jack Weeks of Lone Jack Missouri. Mitzi has had Aussies for over 20 years and the kennel name Siena is a permanent ASCA kennel name. Here at Siena Kennels, we strive to raise the best possible Aussies for every aspect of show ring and foremost for the Best friend anyone could ask for. All of our Aussies come from wonderful foundation dogs, many of whom are Hall Of Fame producers. We take pride in producing dogs that are sound of mind and body, and can do it all; whether it be conformation, obedience, agility, tracking or working stock. All Siena dogs are fully guaranteed for any hereditary defects and for sound temperaments. All guarantees are in writing, and come with a contract for the buyer to agree to, with a lifetime commitment. Siena dogs have their eyes cleared by a certified ophthalmologist...we use Dr. Meredith of Arizona, for most of our eye exams. Chrysler Animal hospital...and Dr. George Buckaloo is our wonderful vet who does our hip x-rays. Information about our dogs is always available from these two veterinarians, whether the information has been sent to Purdue for CERF, or OFA, or not.

Aussies are a wonderful breed...and they take a wonderful person to own one. They are highly intelligent, very devoted and need lots of stimulation to keep them happy. Aussies are not a breed for everyone...that is why we have a contract...that is a commitment. Here at Siena, we try to educate the interested buyer as to what an Aussies needs are and we find out if the buyer is capable of providing those needs. We also don't sell by body or eye color. We pick the "right" puppy for the home situation.

Mitzi Cupp-Weeks has shown Aussies for many years. Her first Aussie came when she was in her last year of College.....he was a dark blue merle male...mostly of Las Rocosa breeding. The next few years Mitzi had 4 more Aussies that were her best buddies, but had several hereditary problems...such as Hip Dysplasia, seizures and temperament problems. They were all fixed and placed in pet homes and one had to be euthanized because of the seizure problems. Then Mitzi went to an ASCA show and found her dream....who would later be called - Ch Siena's Bahar of Shadowrock. Casey was her love and her foundation bitch and a litter sister to Ch Shadowrock's Classic Image. Casey was bred to Ch Briarbrooks Shake the Blues..."Adoma" (who was by Ch Fieldmasters Three Ring Circus and Ch Patchwork Quilt) and they had 4 puppies, two of which were blue merles, which Mitzi kept. They were Ch Siena's Sock It To Em..."Clayton" and Ch Siena's Once In A Lifetime..."Bobby Sue". Another little dog Mitzi bought was Topnotch Siena's Sparkn' Sabrina CD, who was her best buddy and so very smart. She was not a conformation dog by any means, but Mitzi put her CD on her at 7 months of age. Sabrina was bred to Briarbrooks Night On the Town (Ch Fieldmasters Three Ring Circus and Ch Briarbrooks Desert) and that cross produced Mitzi's first BBX Champion...Ch Siena's Great Balls of Fire "Rusty". He sired Siena's second BBX champion....Ch Siena's Hearts on Fire..."Joleen". And to date Siena has produced over 25 Champions of Conformation in ASCA, several obedience titled dogs, 2 tracking titled dogs, and 5 AKC Champions of Conformation and many pointed dogs ready to finish. There are currently 4 Siena dogs training and competing for their Open titles in obedience and starting their Agility competitions this year alone.

Several years ago, Mitzi applied for her judges license for ASCA and became an ASCA breeder judge. She is now an ASCA Senior Breeder Judge and has judged in 11 states and over 800 dogs. Mitzi is also a American Rare Breed Association Judge for ARBA and has judged some of the world's top Rare Breeds, including the Black Russian Terrier, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, the Akbash, the Pons and the North American Shepherd.

Three years ago, Mitzi produced a video "Grooming The Australian Shepherd", which is a detailed video on how to groom the Aussie from start to finish. It is almost 2 hours long, very detailed from bathing, to trimming, sculpting the coat, and what tools are needed for grooming the Aussie. It is geared toward the Aussie but all techniques work for most long coated breeds. She is currently working on a handling video for Adults and Juniors as well. Mitzi also teaches Conformation classes and does grooming and handling seminars. For more information on the video...click here

If you are looking for a sound Aussie that doesn't chase cars, bicycles and children, will worship you....be obedient but fun, has a medium coat, moderate bone and is very devoted and intelligent....Siena might be the place for you. If you want an aggressive, intense Aussie, or one with tons of bone and lots of hair...this is NOT THE PLACE. We are looking for loving, intelligent, devoted homes...that will make a lifetime commitment. If you fit that bill and want to talk please e-mail us at [email protected].

Here are some of our Foundation dogs, the most important of which was Ch Fieldmasters Three Ring Circus..."Bonzo". Siena believes that Bonzo was the greatest Aussie that ever lived. and Mitzi was privileged to know and love him personally. Her breeding program is based mostly on Bonzo and has proven to be very successful. Another foundation Great was Ch Fieldmasters Cast the Die..."Cass" who is also a big foundation for Siena Kennels. Mitzi would like to thank Linda Wilson of Briarbrook Kennels and Ivy Motley of Shadowrock Kennels for selling her such wonderful dogs for her foundation stock. Another great dog was Briarbrooks Marque of Patchwork...HOF bitch and a very special Thank you goes to Tina Smith of Shadowmere Kennels for the chance to own Ch Siena's Glory Be of Shadowmere...daughter of Marque. And last but not least...another special Thank You goes to Ann Caldwell and Julie Scott of AJ Aussies for the chance to own Ch AJ's Chairman of the Board..."Sherman" and his son Ch AJ's Light Is Shining ..."Beemer". They have proven to be such a wonderful addition to Siena's line breeding program.

AKC, ASCA, CKC, Ch Siena's Knockout CD. CGC...."Tyson" is our main guy and the love of my life! What can I say about such a wonderful dog.
